Just wanting to let everyone know...

To let everyone know who watches any of my videos. Yes I know the sound isn't the best. I've been doing films for about 4 years. Had no clue you could by a device called an external mic that makes your sound better. But I did not find that out till about 3 years after i've been making films. But still a high school student. Hard to get a job where I live, unless I just do extra work in films an hour away in shreveport, louisiana. So can y'all please cut down on that my sound sucks.. one of y'all said "lSorry, but the sound really prevented that from being watchable."

I'm planning on buying a shot gun mic here around spring or summer. I'm on a job with some school doing their football banquet and some checks for the football series varsity inc.

So the sound will get fixed soon. Working on my very 1st feature, and i plan for that to look very real with out bad background noise.

no worries, dude. just go over to the audio section and you can read up about microphones there.

yes, I've actually been researching them for about a good month finding and asking what is the best and what I should get and I'm just about there to get one. Getting something first, then the mic comes in.

Sorry if that offended you. Making something that's "watchable" is the first major step in learning filmmaking, something I'm not sure I've reached myself. Wasn't meant to discourage you.

It's cool. Don't worry about it.

Cool. Just one thing, you sure you're ready to attempt a feature? Good advice I've heard is to not even consider it until you've done a bunch of really solid shorts. Not to say you shouldn't try, but it's something that can end up being a waste of time unless you really have enough thought and work put into it.

I agree. I'm still far away from a feature myself with only 5 or 6 shorts under my belt.

Much to learn.

Once I can captivate someone for 5 minutes, I'll move on to 20.
Then maybe a feature once I master that. :)

Yea, I'm not officially sure, but I have already started filming back in September. But have not filmed much do to high school and college and a few loss of actors. Just moving slowly with it. So I am trying for this. Spent the whole 3 months of my Summer writing the script and putting all thought I can into it.

If you would like to see any rough footage I can upload some.

Tip for next time: Spend your time during school writing the script, then film during the summer when you and other cast/crew are out of school.

I did something very similar, except it was only supposed to be 15 minutes long. It took over a year, I had to change actors a few times, and it never got done. The reason was I was constantly improving and shots that I was fine with previously became terrible in my eyes later on, which ended in constantly re-shooting everything. This is why doing shorts, shot in constricted time frames, is best for someone who's learning. You can finish it and learn from it, instead of finish a scene, improve, but then end up going in a big circle trying to constantly bring the movie up to new standards.

Just something to think about, but I would save the script until you're much more experienced if you think it's good enough, and do plenty of shorts in the meantime.

Yea I actually really wanted to do that, but it's fine what I'm dealing with right now. Didn't mention that I get out of school early and so do they, so it's not that bad. Hoping for late summer release if all goes well.
