just upgrade to Pro 12, and of course, problems...

So, i just upgraded to Pro 12, and have been working in Vegas 10 and 11 with Raylight, really with no complaints, but not "needing" Raylight intrigued me.... So, i go to open up a file from a film i'm wanting to "tweak," and in the timeline, the video is there, but for some of my clips, no audio. the audio clip is still there on the timeline, but is empty. Right clicking and properties shows "none."

So, i go import the clip again in a "new" timeline, and alas, no audio there, too. Is there a setting i need to import the audio as well? and it's only for some files, and was NOT an issue prior with 11.

This is kind of hacking me off a bit in that i'm sort of prepping this to send for potential distributors, and now seem to be at a standstill.

Thanks for any input!

positive...the film was already edited, AND, i can drop them into 11 and they pull up the audio... problem is, i opened them in 12, so they are now officially "12," and cant be reopened in 11...

Huh? That doesn't make any sense. You're saying the MXF files which have been opened in 12 now can't be opened in 11? I can't replicate that. In fact, I have the same MXF open in both right now.

Do you mean you saved your project, and now the VEG file can't be opened in 11?

I upgraded to Vegas 12 and I could not get it to run reliably on my PC, so for now I am staying with version 11 and will wait for the next build of Vegas 12.

I spoke of this problem before in my thread here. Seems to be some kind of bug, because sometimes the audio works and then just randomly cuts out, or other times some clips work and others are blank, or any combinations of these. It's just buggy. I really hope Sony fixes this for the first patch, because I'm pretty much not using 12 at this point for any project I've shot on my HVX.

i guess i answer that, yes and yes... i can open the same MXF file in 11, and have video and sound to edit, and open the same file in 12, and no audio. it only seems for a select few files, though...

i also did save as a 12 VEG file, though...

great....not sure what to do now...at least for the VEG files i saved as 12...
thanks for the link

You can copy/paste from V12 to V11, so you can open the project in V12 and copy it back over. I'm sure you'll have to redo some things and possibly replace the clips with no audio (though maybe not), but at least you won't have to start over.

Dave, thanks...

I tried that and it still didnt transfer over the audio, although when i hit properties, it does show an audio on the pull down (which it didnt in 12). It's weird. I have maybe 7-8 VEG files for this film, and they all are fine in 12, except those particular clips....

any other recommendations?

If i copy all of that over into 11, and say try and reintroduce the same clips into the project media, is there a way to say keep my trimmed portions in the timeline and "replace" it with the same clip (hoping the audio coverts over)? Ugh...i dont want to have to edit this again...

thanks....sorry if i'm sounding very rookie, but i sort of am...

here's what i'm doing...

I added in the WAV file from my prior render and am just splitting that where there is no audio. Not too time consuming, and like i said, weird, but only for select clips...

thanks again!
