I finished a short film just last week. Was shot in two days. I added narration to it. The narration was recorded through my camera shot gun mic. the thing that bothered me when we screened in front of 50 people yesterday night in loud speakers- and I totally knew I have done a rush job with editing and didn't bother cleaning up audio- was that the narration had a hiss to it everytime it came on. Maybe I never realized it when editing in my small speakers but hearing from a huge speakers it made a difference. That hiss wasn't anything I could help. It wouldn't even blend in that well with the room sound of the film itself. that made me angry and made me realize that I am but a humble videographer- filmmaker wannabe. the audio just plain sucked. I was saying to myself what in the world have I done????
thankfully no one noticed.
the mic wasn't even XLR- it was mini- jack. I hope that's the reason for those hisses. ... including just plain bad editing... but i really think I'm pretty not bad. seriously
