just set-up standing edit bay - it is indeed a bit different!

I've sat on a bar stool for hours at a time and have no recollection of discomfort. Now what about going the other direction... editing while reclined in the barcalounger? Nowadays they come with massage rollers and built-in beverage cooler. I did edit for 2 years sitting indian-style at low Japanese coffee table. That was not comfortable, even after getting pad to sit on, and risers to raise up the table height a couple inches. Do a google on drafting chairs, I think I can find something that will work for me.

Working and drinking beer are two very different activities. YMMV, but generally tall chairs are sub-optimal for long stretches. They also suck to position while sitting in them.

I know now they make pretty nice tall chairs... Herman Miller even makes a tall version of my Aeron... but for a lot of people a well-fit standing desk is going to be too high to use a drafting stool at. We had a drafting table at a previous workplace and that thing was over a foot lower than my sit/stand desk setting. There just simply isn't enough height in the vast majority of tall stools to correctly position even a moderately tall person in both the sitting and standing positions.

Also, a good standing-level chair isn't cheap... probably significantly more than the difference between a good desk and a standing desk. The desk I had before my GeekDesk Max was $300 or so. My GeekDesk Max was $850. $550 seems like a big difference, but a quality stool will eat that up and then some.
