I love magic.

But when you realize it is all smoke and mirrors, sleight of hand and misdirection ...

It takes the magic out of it. ironic, isn't it ? Seeing people trip is cool though.
 
I just shot BTS footage of a magic show and was dissappointed in the simplicity of the TV illusion
(I think that's all I can say).
 
I know what you guys mean about the method taking away the magic. That is the hard thing about being a magician is you learn all of the methods for creating an atmosphere of amazement. Because of this, it is hard for the magician to feel the awe a non-magician will feel when watching magic. Our goal as illusionists is not to trick the spectator but is to bring that moment of wonder and amazement we felt as children back to the spectator even for a short time. When they can suspend disbelief and exist in that moment of wonder, we have succeeded. Sometimes the methods are ridiculously simple, but the effect's impact is epic.
