Just got FCS 3 for $299 free shipping + no tax

Truth.

Starting October first (a few weeks ago) Apple is doing a thing where if you work for an educational institution.. you can buy the academic version of final cut studio 3 for $299 free shipping no tax. They will only ship to the school though NOT a home address.. so you kind of have to work for a college or know somebody who does.

I realize the extreme minority of people on here are in this position but I figured maybe this would help somebody. Maybe not. Whatever nah mean?

You should be aware tho, that an educational license usually restricts you from using the software for commercial purposes.

Added: Found this: "Academic Copies: If the Apple Software package has an academic label or if you acquired the Apple Software at an academic discount, you must be an Eligible Educational End User to use the Apple Software."

So, you are not limited in how you use the s/w, but if you are not an educator, you are technically in violation of the license.

Where did you find this?

I can't find it from Apple for less than $899 for the academic version.

I work for a university and this would be very useful to get Studio 3.

They won't openly advertise it on their site but call them up and they will have it.

Well just call them up and see. I don't know but I just know that fcs 3 has that discount. It's possible though.
