Just curious: Why'd my thread get deleted?

I recently posted a thread linking to an article that made the case that piracy might actually be boosting sales for ebook authors, and showed how some authors such as Neil Gaiman have responded by giving away their books for free, which again boosted sales (by 300%).

I then expounded my thoughts on the matter - that correlation may not imply causation, and the sales boost from giving the book away may just be from the publicity stunt of doing so, etc. - and followed by saying that I think it might be something worth thinking about.

Is there a reason this thread was deleted? And is it too much to ask that I get notification?

I'm not pissed off or anything, but I am a little irritated.

I've tried my best to stick to the rules and be helpful more than not. When I posted the video of Lars Von Trier's dicey comments about Nazism and that thread was locked, I immediately sent a message to Noel Evans who locked it and apologized for posting it - stating that I didn't realize it was considered political (as it was news) and that I was only posting it because I thought Kirsten Dunst's reaction was priceless.

I've read the guidelines on piracy discussion here - no endorsement. Period. I'm not sure if maybe my thread was taken that way, but it shouldn't have been if so.

Just trying to understand why it got deleted, as I was actually really curious about what other DVXusers thought in response to seeing actual case evidence and facts in relation to the piracy discussion.
