Just an idea

I think it would be cool to put a new subject in the off topic section tittled. "DVX Titles for Sale."

To the mods, just make it real strict like you guys do with the posting job section. Say a fellow dvx-er has a film out for sale and looking to re-coupe some of that money they spent on cast meal, they can put a little message in that forum informing us of their movie.

And just like the job section, only reply/post if you want to get a copy of the film. I would definitely like to support some people, not just because they are on DVX and have a movie, but if I'm seriously interested in the film, I'll get a copy, specially if it's priced right... :). Now am I only saying this because my movie will be coming out soon and want to make a few sales...? Yes and No. Regardless I was going to post in the cafe anyway when it's available, but it's just a cool idea for us to support one another and have a forum to post stuff like this. Think about it Mods, and if anybody wants to weigh in why it's not a good idea, or is a good idea please do.

I also support the idea of a seperate section. The marketplace section doesn't really work for selling films, and the Cafe gets so many posts that a film notice would get buried quickly.

I'd have a seperate section specifically for listing DVDs (or paid downloads, etc) of DVDuser members, but I wouldn't put a limitation on what camera they used to film it.

I would, however, say that if the user posting their film puts a link to an external website offering their movie for sale, they must offer at least a small discount to DVDuser members. It seems only fair that if they get traffic on their site due to a link from here that they give something back.

Great idea. How about a section with thumbnails of the DVD covers; just see one you like and click for more info. And yes to the DVXuser discount.

...and movies shot with the DVX get listed first.:love4:

Cool... I guess we have a strong following, I think it's a cool idea. Twisted, I didn't mean just movies shot on DVX, just call it DVX movies because it's a DVX site... but all is welcome because we're all film makers...

I agree with you Bennis, let's keep it simple. I guess the next step to get this rolling would be to contact JArred and run it by him... All those in favor send him a PM, the worst he could say is NO.

I don't think flooding his inbox with PM's about a sub forum would get him to agree. Ask a moderator to send him a PM, explaining the members' want for such a sub forum. This way, he gets one PM and is made aware by a mod without having to sift through the same PM over and over again.

Thats just my opinion though. I'm all for it by the way.

im working on this guys.. but as of now advertising a dvd anywhere is against forum policy unless you are an official advertiser. if your going to use DVxuser to sell something you gotta give a little back.. its the way things work.

for example, capital P is breaking the rules right now.

Yeah...

The Broken guys pay for a banner on the top of the page. So do The Ore people...

I'm not saying there's not a need for the separate section, but you should expect to pay something for the advertising.

I'm sorry. but whats the difference between someone making their own post about their film? You know. for free? Whats next? We pay for membership?

lol thats the point directinglegend.. you dont pay for membership so dont be an ass.

if you make a film and wanna talk about it here its cool, thats what it is all about. but when your come here and say " hey buy my dvd ".. thats advertising.. and we have a department for that.

You're absolutley right. We don't pay for membership. I think the way people help eachother around here is that much better for the little guy film maker. However, I don't think there is anything wrong with someone saying "Hey buy my DVD!". I do have a problem if there isn't some sort of discount for people laying down their hard-earned cash. Especially after most of the film makers here have asked for advice on their film. I sort of see this is a weirdly balanced system. On one hand they should pay for advertising for posting an ad for their film (much like real film companies). However on the other hand they're free to post here. So whats to stop them from doing the latter?

me banning their sorry asses.

hahaha. Way to lay down the law. And dude, Jarred is more than generous to help out anyone who wants to promote the sale of their film. All it takes is you to ask him about it and talk about it. He's a cool guy, and not out mess... on the contrary, look at this awesome site he's got here for us!
