Jurassic Park IV

I just did a search for anything on JPIV but the search didn't bring anything up. Anyway hot on the heels of the revelation that Indy IV will be up and going soon here's a little tidbit on JPIV from IMDB:

http://www.imdb.com/news/wenn/2006-02-22/

You'll have to scroll down a bit for it. The last line of the article is pretty interesting...

I really think that JP should kinda end. First one was amazing, 2nd was good, but 3.... Ugh... That was worse than that fruitcake I got at Christmas. I want my Indy 4 yesterday, but until I hear a premise for Jurassic Park that gets me excited. Maybe possibly Michael Chrichton getting back on the bandwagon. That would be good! They could just remake The Lost World and call it something else, because the theatrical Lost World was nothing like the novel. Anyway, just want my Indy 4. Been waiting since 1989 and i'm tired and I wanna go to bed. I had a little drink about an hour ago..... Sorry. Wrong movie. =)

LMAO!

I'm sure the new JP will suck. Esp is speilberg directs it. But I'll watch any movie with CGI dinosaurs in it.

Why especially if Spielberg directs it? I think that is the only way it has a chance. Once Spielberg handed the franchise over to another director it went down the crapper. This is his chance to redeem himself for that horrible film.

Why does everyone bag on part 3 by Joe Johnston ? I thought 3 was better than the crapfest that was Part 2. At least there werent any lil girls beating up Raptors using their dance lessons

JHudson...that my friend...is funny!!

Hopefully Jurrassic Park 4 wont be crap...i kinda like the series..been watching it since i was 3.

Indiana Jones 4.......first one at the freaking movie theater to get in line....those movies rock my socks hardcore...i have all the DVDs...its like eating delicious cherry cheesecake..and i looove cheesecake... :)

Uh oh

Now, I don't bag on part 3, I like it. Really. It's still Jurassic Park, it's got dinosaurs, Sam Neil and John Williams' score (I don't need much, do I? :o ). However, there are 2 problems that I have with it:
1. The script... The boy living on an island alone for like a month? Come on...
2. Lack of climax. Velociraptors take the eggs and run away, the next moment army and navy seals are all over the beach, hooray! The end.
Remember the first one? Being chased by the raptors all over the facility to ultimately meet T-Rex who would kick the crap out of them. That had you on the edge of your seat untill the credits started rolling and you knew that finally the heroes were safe...
Here the ending is blah... Okay, the birdies are smart, we already got it.

And now for the Lost World. I absolutely agree with the part about the girl, John. Not only she was incredibly annoying throughout the movie (why do girls in JP series all have to be dumb? After all, their parents are usually scientists... sheesh), but that acrobatics scene was probably one of the most stupid moments in film history.
But that doesn't change the fact the rest of the movie was good. JPIII never came close to the level of suspense and "wow factor" of the action scenes achieved in 2nd movie. The trailer hanging over the sea, the safari, raptors in the field at night and, of course, T-Rex in San Diego... Lost World to me is almost as good as the original.

I think the only way it really has a chance is if its directed by Spielberg... wouldn't it be cool though to see Pete Jackson direct Jurassic Park??? ;)

haha. oh yeah i forgot about that! LOL.

i think it would be very interesting to see Kevin Smith direct it. Have the dinosaurs smokin' cigs and weed, sayin "snooch to the nooch", and "i'm not even supposed to be here today!"

Vic

That's a nice take I can agree for the most part.

JP2

Pros

1. Classic jungle safari explorers trekking through dangerous territory
2. The road wranglers in their All-terrain vehicles
3. The intense Moterhome sequence
4. Vince Vaughn
5. Julianne Moore (always)
6. The Raptors chasing them through the jungle and into the labs

Cons

1. The dude that gets ganked by the little tiny dinos was such a lame sequence
2. The electric stabbing sticks were gay (NTTAWWI)
3. The little girl needed to go away
4. Vaughn and Moore trying to bandage a REX's leg
5. The little girl kicking the **** out of a Raptor
6. The convenient slaughter of the ENTIRE jungle party by Raptors towards the climax
7. The slaughter of the boat crew by....what ?
8. The entire San Diego thing was lame

--------

I agree for the most part with JP3. I do not understand the need to have a kid in every one. But JP3 really surprised when i expected Nothing going into it. I thought it had some nice sequences (The plane sequence rocked; although too quick), but the script di not piss me off. The military conveniently showing up did.

I'd like to see JP go into the badlands. The desert, with caves and shite.

It was good up untill the moment he suddenly became unable to kick the crap out of those things. He just said "Ah, poo poo it..." and died

Not that there is anything wrong with that :D But yeah...

Totally!

I blame Moore. Although Vince should have just said NO, the chick was crazy.

See #3

Oh come on! The slaughter was cool... but I see your point - there were still a few members alive and suddenly they were all gone/away leaving the heroes face to face with raptors.

Looked like pterodactils... but who knows. Yeah, that part was weird. The ship sailed for what, several days, a week? They couldn't have gotten killed too far away from the island and noone on the continent bothered to check how the things were going for the whole week, when there was a friggin T-Rex on board??

John_Hudson said:

Oh man... You know it's not true, you are probably jealous because you missed 'em shooting that sequence in your town :D

But, anyway, we're both waiting for the next installment and hoping it is good, right? And it's all that matters.

I love speilbergs earlier stuff. And I mean love. truely.

But it's MHO that the dude is a rich old man who is buying up and ruining a more than his fair share of stories.

Plus there should be legislation against him and Tom Hanks from ever working together again.

Just an opinion, but I think spielbergs movies have lost ALL of their magic and are flat out boring now.

I keep going to them but at this point I'm not sure why.

This was the film that made me realize I wanted to make films. Spielberg rocked my world with JP1.

Hudson makes some pretty good points about 2 and 3. I thought the big mistake of two was the girl... it still had some great scenes though.

The 3rd film lacked that spielberg touch to it... and it wasn't marketed that well.

I think with spielberg jumping back on the 4th will make it great, and although there is a motive for cashing in on the jp franchise, spielberg's gotta know that the 4th has gotta be the best of the best... and the fan base of these films has grown older... and most of us will want to see something darker (as spidey said)

Someone said a few days ago in a post that this 4th film is going to be about human-like dinosaurs? I think there's a lot of scary implications in there and has the potential to be very dark.

Who knows though. It's all speculation now and all we can do is theorize. :)
