Hi,
i made several tests for using a lavalier rode.
I would like to record the lavalier directly into my dslr canon 60d. I had several problems....

Here are the options :

1) plug the rode lavalier into a 3.5mm jack of the sony pcm-m10 and plug the pcm-m10 into the canon 60.

2) plug the rode lavalier into a XLR juicelink (the juicedlink plugged in my canon 60d). I've tested this and i had to touch the cable and the micon connector XLR to have the signal. It was a pain (some people on the site told me i should add a XLR cable to the lavalier cable. Another person told me he had 4 replacements of the XLR connector to have one that actually works!!)
Since i had these problems, i decided to return the micon xlr connector.

Which options would be the best ? Do i need a juicedlink or the pcm-m10 plugged in the canon 60d would do the job ?

Beside from that, the rode lavalier requires 48 v phantom power
Is there any good lavalier that requires 12v power ? Some say AT899 would be a good choice. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance everybody,
Have a great day,

I would get something like the Sound Devices MixPre-D. This will solve your problems. Hardwire the lav to the MixPre-D and then use the output designed for DSLR cameras to go to the cam and the main outs to go to your audio recorder. Record dual system properly that way.

This is an excellent solution Rick R.!
And for my sony camcorder CX550, since i have headphone imput right on the camcorder, i only need a cable that goes from 1/8 to 3.55m input jack.
thanks for your comments Rick.

That should work, as would the previously mentioned Sescom DSLR-MIC-MON 3.5mm

"since i have headphone input right on the camcorder, i only need a cable that goes from 1/8 to 3.55m input jack"
> Headphone jacks are OUTPUTs

"i only need a cable that goes from 1/8 to 3.55m input jack."
> 1/8 inch and 3.5mm size plugs/jacks are normally close enough in size to be interchangeable. You still need a attenuating cable like Sescoms to go from HP (or line) level to mic level. I simple 1/8" to 1/8 cable would cause distortion
