I was just making a point that there are things that need a severe overhaul in the good ol' USA and when a murderer (if he is) can buy his way out on such a public scale and then joke about it on Tv, then it's time for action.

Hell, way past time.

Unless that's the country we want america to be. Then, yeah, good for OJ...I guess. Lets call him a "great american" and let the shame lie on the rest of us.

THIS is more incriminating than the glove or running away or any of that stuff

Being willing to capitalize on the brutal killing of the mother of your children
with a funny and ironic bit about it on a reality show is a very condemning piece of evidence to me.

how much more proof do you need that the guy is a narcissistic sociopath

a person capable of feeling empathy or sympathy wouldn't do that

... really think about it, if you are not in a committed long term relationship with someone and/or have kids with someone then substitute your mother or father or brother or sister or best friend-since-you-were-kids for "wife" ... anyone you have a significant bond with and deep feelings for

... now imagine you are accused of their brutal murder and 75% of the world that knows who you are thinks you did it, and for the sake of argument let's say you didn't ... imagine getting on with your life trying to live with that .

... now imagine some TV producers have an idea for a reality show featuring you and doing a funny bit trying to sell the car you ran from the police in after "allegedly" knifing your wife to death ...

A normal person ... like the family members of the guy he killed who are suing him for this, would be outraged and either say no way in hell, or quit the show ... imagine the very painful loss of a loved one and being asked to do a funny bit on it.

but all of this only applies if he is not a violent sociopath who only thinks of himself i.e., my career is in a slump, Tori spelling has a hit show making fun of herself for being a ditsy, materialistic, Hollywood deb that only has a career because her daddy’s maybe the most successful TV producer ever ... hmm pretty self deprecating ... maybe I can cash in on the whole being accused of killing my wife thing ... everyone's curious about that .... cool the show got green lighted ... AND THIS BIT WHERE I TRY TO SELL THE BRONCO ..... HILLARIOUS!!!!! I feel an endorsement deal coming on. SWEET!

But I guess we should "cut him some slack" and say that it's the American Entertainment industry that failed here.

Jut because "the system" functioned horribly at all levels during his trial does not vindicate the man, nor should it earn him a place as a harmless but colorful pop culture icon.

Despite the fact that it always seemed like he did it I did my darndest to give him the benefit of the doubt because he was as you say found innocent.

But not anymore. Funny bits about your dead wife = cold blooded narcissistic asshole and even if by some unlikely pile up of coincidences all of that evidence found its way onto his estate and he didn't kill his wife, he might as well have. Sick redemptionless asshole.

I'll also remind you that he was found innocent at the criminal trial but lost the civil trial having to pay millions to the victims families ... for being innocent?

I don't think so.

I can honestly say that when viewing media produced in the United States, it's disturbing. It appeals to the dumb gorilla in all of us who just goes around masturbating and eating dung. They work on the lowest common denominator.

That being said, CBC isn't all that great either. If I have to see another Anne of Green Gables Special I'll blow my brains out. Maybe I should just see what the Mexicans are watching.

Yep. Except TV almost all over the world is garbage. There are a few good shows here and there but the medium itself excells when it is pumping out crap.

Check out Amusing Ourselves to Death. by Neil Postman. Wanky, sure, but he talks about this.

Just look for the worst of the worst and you find gold like this OJ thing. Italian and Japanese TV are both pretty wacky too.

Rook come on. Have you forgotten the ultimate show in the world produced out of Nova Scotia? There is a shlt psunami coming Rook! And after that, two really big shlt plates are going to collide and cause the biggest shlt earthquake you've ever seen.

I'm not sure if you guys get that in the States yet which would be a shame because I believe that many of you could identify with it. I know the Brits have it on BBC. You must watch this show. You can find it in places like mininova.org as well. Highly compressed but still worth the watch. Also..don't just watch one. You have to watch at least 3 episodes or you won't get it and dismiss the show as garbage. They also have a movie coming out this summer. Check it out:
