Man, this is starting to make sense. The other day, a buddy at work sent me this…

He said he thought this was the Ring 2 trailer (It’s not of course. Ring 2 is "Ring 2"). But the “Grudge” film makers are the same as the original “The Ring” (Ringu). Lots of Ring-Like footage in the American version of the “Grudge” (Sarah Michelle Gellar).

I was at first like “this is a total Ring rip off” but now it makes sense.

Been trying to watch this one but the girlfriend keeps making me turn it off. She hates creepy movies. Anyway, from what I've seen it looks very cool. I'll try to get through the rest tonight and post up my thoughts. I have to ask this . Why does the US insist on remaking all of these great films from overseas? Have all of the original ideas in hollywood dried up or what?

there's a film also from Korea, called the tale of two sisters. I dunno if anyone's seen it but I saw it and they are going to remake it. I just hope they don't pick the olsen twins. but i feel that us version of The Grudge looks promising with the japanese cast and setting.

"Ringu" = "The Ring"
"Ju On" = "The Grudge"

Same creators of the Japanese versions of both. They say that the "Ring 2" (sequel) will stray heavily away from the Japanese sequel of Ringu however. The "Grudge" almost lends itself to the origins of Samara from The Ring (I think that's what confused my friend at work, he thought it was the prequel to The Ring)

"The Ring" and "The Grudge" are both remakes of their japanse counterparts, right?

I've seen this. It's a pretty freaky movie, although like Ju On I had trouble understanding it...
