Jr. Stands

Does anyone know of a good place, besides ebay, as I can't seem to find any, to buy used jr. light stands? Thanks.

Yeah, don't go off their webpage but call pyramid films (they're also B&M Lighting). I just bought 4 combos off of them a few weeks back for $100 a piece. However, if you have a project coming up soon I recommend ordering asap. It took them 2 weeks to ship the stands, and when they got here one of them had a knuckle broken in transport and another was missing the tightener for the knuckle all together.

I did just get them in yesterday though, and I have heard that they're stand up guys so I suspect they will take care of fixing those problems.

Hmm, I'd say "good", but it's a little hit or miss perhaps. I got 3 triples and 1 double riser, and two of the triples were matthews and feel really solid, but one of the triples is a norms and is a little shaky, plus the top connector looks ever so slightly bent (though will still work fine). Cosmetically they all have heavily worn blue paint on the risers and the usual scuffs and scrapes you'd expect. The norms one looks to have a little bit of rust on one of the legs.

Overall for the price you can't really complain, well except for the missing and broken knuckle. But I think they might be a bit busy right now so they overlooked some things.

I have gotten things from them often. They do stand behind their gear. There is a reason a combo is $100. It is used and not perfect, but perfectly serviceable.

Agreed. I would even say that their price to condition ratio is better than expected. You definitely end up coming out on top.

Just as a follow up for anyone concerned, I talked to the guys at Pyramid Films this morning and everything will be taken care of with the damaged gear. You can order from these guys with confidence, they've been really cool throughout the entire process.

If you're looking for lights as well I bought 2 2k Moles for $150/piece and they're in great condition, even came with scrims and 2-leaf barn doors.

I'm very happy with my amvona combo stands. I bought them cause they're cheap, but I'm continually impressed with how solid and robust they are.

The Amvona C-stands suck eggs, but it seems like the combos are so different they must have come from a different factory.

BTW, I'm experienced with Mole and MSE and I understand why those are industry standard. For a rental house, I'd go with one of the standards. These amvonas are more than solid enough for personal use.

I've got a couple of those Amnova combos. I am a little wary of the strange collar construction but use them only for baby lights. I worry about stripping the threads if tightening too much. Otherwise, for the money, if I'm just using them myself I'll be a little careful. I'm more confident in my Avenger combos. And for 79.99 the Amnova/Dynatran weren't too bad a deal. Check the bay for that lower price.
