Join Through Edit Via Keyboard

In FCP 7. Right click on through edit, it gives you the option to join through edit.

You probably already know this, but delete any unused tracks before sending to color. I almost always forget I have at least one extra track open on the timeline and it gets sent too.

Maybe I didn't explain it well enough.

In the timeline hover over the through edit - right click on the area where the 2 edits meet. A little window will come up with a few options, one of which should be join through edit. Click it, it goes back to being one edit. If you have an old school mouse it would be ctrl + click to get the right click function. (no idea if fcp 6 has this function but fcp 7 does).

I am not sure of any other way. On my system it is extremely easy to do this way. I also have snapping on which makes it easier to always click on the right spot.

EDIT: Just tested it. It also has a Join ALL Through edits. So you only have to click that once and it gets rid of all through edits in the timeline!! So, crossing my fingers that works in FCP 6 too, cuz it sounds like that could speed things up a lot for you.
