John Sayles

I recently discovered a living legend screenwriter, director, actor, productor: John Sayles. Lonestar, City of Hope, Piranha, Baby It's You, Return of the Secaucus Seven, Spiderwick Chronicles, Clan of the Cave Bear, ...etc.

If you have never heard of him, check him out

One of the most prolific people in film I have discovered. Winner of a gazillion awards.

I was channel surfing TV a few weeks ago, came across an interview on the Create channel, he looked to be about 35 in the interview though he is much older now. Then I accidentally come across an afternoon movie, credits roll -- written by John Sayles. Then yesterday I see a movie on VHS I have been waiting so long to see go to DVD is available on DVD, "Baby It's You" (Rosanna Arquette, Vincent Spano)

so I order two copies, one of my favorite movies. I am going to order a couple of his screenplays today just to study his writing. In an industry where it is said it is so hard to sell a screenplay, Sayles has written and sold, seen produced, so many of his screenplays I figure his writing is worth studying.

Wow, who hasn't heard of John Sayles?

But if you haven't I second this. He's one of the really true independents out there.

It's weird, just two nights again I accidentally came across a repeat of the PBS interview with Sayles (1991 interview, he was younger then of course). Again, inspiring.
