Usually if a commercial runs repeatedly on a program I'm watching consecutively (like the Olympics or playoff games) I get tired of even the best spots after a few viewings.

Well, this DirecTV spot with John Cleese has been running on the Olympics, and I've seen it over a dozen times (then another half-dozen after I found it on Youtube) and I still laugh so hard it hurts- But if you're a big Cleese fan, what's better than Cleese responding to Cleese??? :grin:

Also, you can pause and see what the butler's doing in each scene... :happy:

I've been wanting to tape it just so I can play it back and check out the details... thanks for the link!
 
Yes, an excellent commercial. I'm sure Cleese was in on the writing and prodution. Has Cleese all over it.

Butler is a great backdrop.

I just had to write it out, and oh god, it's (nearly) as funny in text as coming from Cleese...


Ahhh, I miss the absurdity of Python- and shades of "Who's on first"
