I'm heart-broken. I haven't seen any scuttlebutt about anyone doing a modern John Carter of Mars movie, and I've been fantasizing that when I make my big break in the movie business (ahem), that would be the project I'd tackle.

But it looks like the guy who did Sky Captain wants to do that next.

It has been under an option forever, probably renewed year after year.

I'd want Michael Whelen to do the production design (at least for the Martians).

It's been optioned for years. Drat.

It seems to me like the movie needs to be made!
