Jogging Stroller Dolly

When the wife's away, the Dan will play.

As I mentioned in the Cafe, I picked up a jogging stroller at the recycling center today.

Just using stuff around the house (don't feel like going to the store), I made this:

The thing needs weight and stiffening...bungie cords and free weights for now...and I'll put in a platform once I get a real tripod. And a place to mount my laptop for DV Rack.

But the results are not too shabby. A sample (WMV) here

I left the audio in so you can hear why the image isn't as glide-y smooth as it should be. This apartment is over 100 years old, and the floors are anything but level, flat, or quiet.

There *may* be a battle next week when my wife comes home and sees what I put on her brand new carpet. ;-)

It's a little shakier than I thought it would be though. The tracking shots looked steadier to me. Good improvising Dan. Were you using the anamorphic adapter on that?

Nah...that's Squeeze.

Yeah...still shaky. But steadier than anything I could do handheld. Or with the SteadyTracker, even.

Hopefully, it will better once I make a platform for it, and some real bracing. Not to mention using a tripod rather the post.

Damn those floors were creaky! Nice lil invention ya got there, the very first bits of that first shot looked great (then it got shaky), Im sure some stabalizing will do the trick.

Yep. I hope. Just having on a pole like that...it oscillates easily...one little bump and boing boing boing. ;-)

Heck...even if doesn't work as well as I expect it will, I've already found another use for it.

There are a lot of places I want to film, but they are not accessible by car. If I have to walk 2 miles to get there, this'll be a helluva lot easier than carring everything.

Definitely an "A" for effort. The stroller dolly has potential. The last shot was the best. The side tracking shots worked better than the forward and backward motion shots. I know how difficult it is to make a DIY dolly or steadycam. Keep moving forward. ...Pun intended.
