I know, I know it's been a long time since I've been here.

I've been busy ok!

Truth be told I've been making cartoons and haven't busted out my DVX (or any camera for that matter) for some time...

Until last weekend when I made this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO2pmHsF268

So, I'm hooked again! But i don't want to lug my DVX up to the mountains every time I want to film my outdoor shenanigans.

Basically, I'm looking for thoughts on a new, lighter camera.

But I've been out of the loop for so long I don't know where to start. :crybaby:

Anyway, any advise would be appreciated. I'd like it to produce as beautiful of images as the DVX in a smaller package. 24p would be sweet, and since I don't have a blue ray burner, I could care less if it was HD (gasp! I know, I'm a weirdo!)

Best of all I'd like to not kill my wife with how expensive it is... please.

What do you think?

You might want to check out some of the DSLR cameras with video capability.

Check out Sinnergy and Dispatch from Monster Fest. Both were shot on the GH1. There were other DSLR's used but these are the two I remember off the top of my head.

And checkout the DSLR in Motion forum.

I've seen some video of the GH1... and honestly, that's the camera I've been eye-balling. But even at a reasonable 1500 bones that may be out of my price range for now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's also on the cheap end of the DSLR w/video spectrum isn't it? I may just have to bite the bullet, but I'd like to see what other option their are. Thanks for the help Blaine!

PV-GS250. I still use it when I don't want to lug the DVX or as a B cam. It has a manual focus ring and you have control over the shutter speed, aperture, white balance and audio recording level. No 24P but it has a 3CCD sensor. Its low-light ability is lacking; however, its outdoor image still impresses me. You can probably find a used one on eBay for about $100.

I have an HV30 Canon Vixia and shot this with it and a Handy 35mm adapter:

This film was filmed on one of them Stock with no adapter by a talented filmmaker:

You can get one for about 500.00
