It's the most highly anticipated video debut since the Af100!!! Well, maybe...

Disclaimer- they didn't get him to talk on camera (he's shot through a porch screen walking back inside the house), but they got a DVXuser victim, and the DVXuser logo gets airtime too.

He makes a pretty funny written statement about being the victim.

The Sheriff's Office didn't comment, and has only charged him once, in 2006. Dono received pre-trial diversion after being arrested for an "organized scheme to defraud" (!).

So here's Tampa's ABC Action News Story. This also happens to be my 1000th post.
Thought post 1K might be my first AF100 video, but that won't be til next week (and won't be as eagerly awaited)...

STATEMENT OF JOSEPH DONO TO ABC ACTION NEWS:

To whom this may concern. :violin::violin::violin:

I'll date this back 3 1/2 years ago when I first had brought my car to Jap Works to get body work done on my car, I had a invoice given to me for the amount of 1,500$ dollars.

2 weeks after I paid 1,200 dollars 2 1/2 months gone by and it was always a reason why my car wasn't done yet. I decided thats it I'm getting my car done or not, I show up and my car wasn't done and is in pieces. We called the Ocala PD, they told us that its a cilvil matter.

After I went home that night Aaron the shop owners found dirt on me from when I was 17 years old, used that against me to make me look like a complete fool.
I can't defend my self against thousands of internet viewers who made there assumption of who I am based off of Jap Works outlook.

I was out of the 1,200 dollars paid to Jap works I was out of my 16,000 dollar car and yet I'm told I am the scam artist... Seems like Jap works made a bill of any amount to keep me from having my car. Weeks after I've made them a offer of 6,000 dollars they refused it and kept claiming they would own the car one day. 1 week before Tampa Credit union had taken the car back I made a 6,000 dollar offer again to release my car and the owner Aaaron had said the co-owner will not settle for nothing less then "16,000 dollars" and is being a "dick" about budging on pricing.

From that day forward I gave up on getting my car, I currently to this day am paying off a 16,000 dollar car I do not have.... Who was scammed? My creditability on the internet? The 1,200 I gave to the shop, my car.

This now brings me to the current date and forever more... My name is dirt on the internet and there isn't anything that will change this. I'm a victim here and I don't expect anyone to believe me. However I've given up on trying to get people to believe my side of the story, I've lost many friends over this and for a long time I really hide from the internet because of what was being said and now I've learned to live with what is being said because what is on the internet isn't true and deep down anyone who knows me, knows that its not true. People who have made death threats, harassed my self and my family are ignorant people.

I don't know what to say or the words to say it because bottom line there isn't anything I can change this. Anyone who reads anything online is so easy to cry wolf. I was contacted by a detective months ago about someone sending me 1,800 $ cash to my house and never received anything, later black mailing me to send him 1,000 dollars or he will not drop charges. I had to buy into his demands and from now on I no longer receive mail or packages to my home.

I've lost a lot, but I have gained so much from this experience.

Is this the reel with footage lifted from others? Shall we start leaving comments with citations to the actual authors?

What's funny is when he Googles "Joe Dono" in his reel, that Google doesn't add "scammer."

Shall we start leaving comments with citations to the actual authors?

Barry Green and Jack Daniel Stanley are supposedly among the victims of reel theft, so they're (painfully) aware of it. And the 180 flip shot of the keg stand at :11 is allegedly ripped right from the band's video.

But feel free for others... this is a community project, afterall...

It might be interested to let the reporters at the news station know that he's not only scamming people, but stealing their footage as well.
I doubt they'll do a followup story on ol' Joe - but if they ever do, it would be a nice tidbit for them to add in there.

Pretty good reporting, but…..

This guy woulda got inside Dono's house for the real story.

"Shame shame shame"

He's also known to steal photos as well and he puts his name on them too.

If you want a good laugh, go to his Vimeo site and read his bio. the entire thing is one big lie. The only truth is his name. Believe me, this scum will get his through Karma. "It's a *****".
Im willing to bet by 28 he has a life sentence. He has a felony by age19. And working on his second. Which he should have within the next few monthes. Thats the only reason for the sheriff's dept. not to make a statement. They don't want to comprimise their case.

It's really sad this bottom feeder thinks nothing of stealing from hard working people. And then to say he's the victim, wow even more disgusting. People like this should find the tallest bridge in their vicinity and dive off it. Theives are like child molestors, they can't stop. It's part of who they are.

Yes, many things on that reel are stolen -- if not everything on that reel. Even the very concept of the reel (the typing in google bit) is stolen from Vincent Pascoe's reel.

I think this guy truly needs to be exposed. In a community of filmakers, I'm surpised that nobody has thought to compile a video with the victim's testimonials, regarding both physical and intellectual property. If he is ripping off people financially and their videos and photos, someone needs to compile this information and post it into a video on Youtube and Vimeo. There is a lot of scattered info out there and it would be cool to have it all clearly laid out so people know.

It really sicks for the victims in all of this, but it would be really nice to make sure people understand what's going on so it can be stopped once and for all. Maybe doing something like a compiled video will help more people from being scammed. Stealing, Fraud, Copyright Infringement. People need to know, not have to sift through pages upon pages of stuff to get the hard details.
