I've been doing a lot of looking at jibs these days, and I've got a lot of how to make one figured out, except for the turntable at the tripod (and on each end if you're making an advanta-jib style) Can anyone help me out?
nice idea hoarp. I´m playing arround with those little aluminum scooters for kids.
Buy one for 5 bucks on a fleamarket and get expandable aluminum tubs with stylish billet clamps, T-handle with foam grips, skater wheels, head bearings andwhatnot worth $150 out of it if you sloughter one.
You can use two pieces of teflon sheet... spray some lemon pledge on 'em... perfectly slick surface bearing... like what you have in may "fluid action" tripod heads.
I would use something a little bit more robust than a kids scooter... My crane weighs about 90kg, and even if your not planning such a big one, it will always end up heavier than you want, and remember all the handle bars are for is for the kid to hold onto, they arnt designed to bear any weight. Weak pressure locks and thin tubing wont hold much.
