Jib Recommendations

I need a recommendation for a good jib in the 8-12' range. Not too concenred about price but value for the price is important. Payload should be 5-8lbs range. I want something that is easy and quick to assemble as this would be used for weddings. Any thoughts?

I have 2 jibs, a Trovato Tote 48 and a Cobra Crane+. The Trovato Tote 48 will support a 75 pound camera, but it is shorter than the Cobra Crane+. The Cobra Crane+ gets the camera much higher, but will only support a very light camera before you get rolling flex because of it's design, and to be honest I have not used it in some time. Something else to think about, is support for the jib. For example... I carry 100 pounds of counter balance weight in my van to use with the jibs. On my last shoot I used 60 pounds of counter balance weight. The longer the jib, the more weight you will need to balance your camera. My advice, take it or leave it... Get a jib which will support any of your future camera purchases, rather than one which will only support the ultra light camera you are currently using. That way you are not re-buying support gear as you change cameras over time.

Good Luck!

I've owned and worked with a lot if different jibs but I just bought a microdolly again because nothing touches it ..... It costs a bit but you get what you pay for. Lightweight, small, extends, no flex (great truss) and takes 50lbs. It's the one you always see in remote shots with big cameras.

I use the ez fx jib http://www.ezfx.com/

I like it a lot. I use it on a Kessler KPod Tripod which is a moose but solid. I got the 6" lockable wheels for it. You can get extensions for this jib which adds to it's value if you're looking for that capability.
