Jerky Playback

I have finished burning a wedding to DVD and when I play it back, I noticed that any camera movement seems to be jerky. What is causing this and how do I make it go away? I shot the video in 24pa, edited it on a 24 fps timeline in Vegas 6d, rendered from Vegas as MPEG1 and burned it in DVD 3.0 , which for some reason found it necessary to render the project again. I have a 2.0 Gateway with 1 gig of RAM. Thanks in advance.

If you rendered as an MPEG-1, of course it will re-render -- DVDs are MPEG-2.

The low-quality MPEG-1 re-rendered to MPEG-2 *could* be the cause of poor motion rendering.

How does the original footage look?

It looked okay to me but I will go back and recheck it. I did redo it in Vegas 5.0 as avi and I still had the problem although not nearly as severe. I did try going with MPEG2 first but it had no sound. As I did not want to try to figure out how to get the sound, I went with MPEG 1. I didn't realize it wasn't for DVD, thanks for the info. I guess I'll need to do more research.

Use the DVD Architect templates under MPEG-2. Yes, it will render without sound, but all you have to do is render the sound to the same folder as AC-3 and give it the same file name, and DVDA will automatically bring it into the DVD project when you drop your video into it. (You can also render audio as PCM if you're using a PCM DVD project.)

You CAN render an MPEG-2 with sound, but DVD will re-render it.
