Alright guys, I've looked through a couple pages of threads and tried a search but I haven't been able to find anything. If any of you know where I might find a thread relating to my topic, please point me to it.
I've imported two tapes today using my XH-A1 and when I attempt to play it back in FCS, the playback is jerky. Keep in mind, I've imported HD footage before, played it back and edited perfectly fine. As far as I know, I did nothing different this time around. I did a Google search and I found that some people have the "fit to window" unchecked and are using a higher percentage, causing unnecessary jerky playback. That's not the case in my situation.
I also considered the possibility that my footage was imported incorrectly and that I was dropping it into the wrong timelines. Nope, one tape was 24f and the other 60i - both put into their respective timelines correctly and playback perfectly fine in Quicktime.
When I export with FCP, the footage is smooth...but I need to be able to edit without looking at my screen as if its missing a few frames. I highly doubt its the cause of a dropout, because the files play back perfectly fine in Quicktime and seem to export fine out of FCP.
Just to give you the specs of my machine in case it's relevant, I'm using FCS 2 with a Macbook Pro (2.0 ghz, 2 gigs of RAM and editing from an external G-Drive). I've tried restarting my computer, as well as the hard drive thinking that somehow that might help but it hasn't seemed to. I really don't want to re-install FCS just for this because I'm sure it's a setting or an easy fix...I hope anyway.
All help is much appreciated,
Kegan
