Jason Statham-The WORST 'action' 'star' ever

I enjoyed Crank and Crank 2. Both films pretty much portrayed what I've always thought a live action adaptation of the Grand Theft Auto video games should feel like.

He was great in Snatch and Lock Stock. You don't like Eastwood? Yeah you lost me...

No, wait, let me backup (back peddle lol) a bit.

Eastwood was well suited to his old school roles (you know the ones I mean) but that same old stern, grumpy facial expression gets a bit old after a while.

I liked the concept of Gran Turino but the whole movie was ruined by awful acting (mostly from that kid) and a ridiculous ending. (Not to mention a hilarious song by Clint himself as the credits role.)

I'm not hating on Statham, I'm glad hes make a good career, but if they are gunna make him an action star, well hey why not make Paul Ruebens the next Rambo???

Havn't you guys noticed that Hollywood can pretty much put anyone half decent on screen make a few bucks then the public go "oh that guy was in some pretty good movies so yeh he rocks."

Sorry to sound negative , I don't mean to, I just...I just don't think hes action star material.

I would rather see a super veiny Stallone for the next 10 years :) :nads:

Jason Statham is a gentleman and a swell guy. Too much so to kick anyone's ass for suggesting that's he's not a legit action star, no matter how effectively he could do it.

Heck, my father can do a Geordy accent. Well, okay, he grew up in Newcastle.

It's already lasted about eight years or so. You can look forward to plenty more boredom.

Hey, if you happen to *like* vanilla, you got nothing more to ask for...

I'd like to see Statham in some dramatic roles. What I like about him is he's actually a GOOD actor, and can do the action stuff. Tough combination to find, IMO.

Hmmmmmm.......a dramatic role....

I suppose he could play an alcoholic milkman who falls in love with a married woman he delivers to who's husband treats her like dirt, but he finds out the husband is involved with drug/gang stuff, and the husband finds out about Statham having an affair with his lady.

Husband goes after Mr Milkman with some cronies and...

Nah. Couldn't come up with anything decent.

Mm hmm. Professional writers definitely build their careers by turning down work, and by flaunting their inability to develop ideas.

You'll go far.

Congratulations! You've just alienated yourself from at least 6 mods in less than 100 posts!

Even Statham couldn't do that.

I think Statham is a decent actor, albeit pigeonholed into certain tough guy roles. the man is a machine too - he does most of his own stunts (chalk it up to his Olympic diving background). I'm not gonna watch the guy play MacBeth, but his roles in badass action movies are enough to keep me entertained (watch Transporter 1, 2, Crank 2 or Mean Machine [or any of his other flicks] and tell me those aren't just solid action movies).

If we're gonna discuss the pitiful acting of action movie stars can we at least bring up Paul Walkers name? Cheese and rice that guy sucks

You know, considering how well Mel Gibson did with Hamlet - and I'm not kidding, I really very much liked his Hamlet - I think I'd be willing to give Statham's MacBeth a try. Particularly when you consider the opportunities to get greased up and kick ass that MacBeth offers its lead performers...

...say what you will, but Paul Walker achieves a very difficult technical level of performance in that he manages to suck and blow at the same time.
