Just wondering.... ???
Does anybody know what the Japanese mini dv tape, super dvc (AY-DVM60VX) corresponds to in the American market?
PQ's or MQ's or in between?
Here in Japan we can only choose between the dvc tape and the super dvc.

Thanks

Re: Japanese Panasonic tape question

Looks like you stumped us here, supra. Have you tried asking the manufacturer?

Re: Japanese Panasonic tape question

I asked Panasonic Japan and got this response:

Thank you very much for your purchasing Panasonic AG-DVX100A.

Regarding the tape media for DV tape, please kindly note that the 'MQ' 'PQ'
means jut trade name for DV tape
which is commonly used format.

So we would like to recommend you to purchase the Panasonic mini DV tape for
AG-DVX100A
which you can find the convenience store or the electrical shop of near house.

For more information:

Model No. : AY-DVM60V or AY-DVM60VX

We wish you a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!!

Best regards,

Those 2 models she gave me stand for the cheap ($4) dvc tapes and the 10$ super-dvc.
The super-dvc's are recommended in the dvx100 manual.

Actually, I just spoke to Rush from EVS about it this morning and he said the super dvc's are probably the equivalent of the MQ's, with no equivalent of the PQ's available. Anyways, after Rush explained the difference between MQ's and PQ's, I picked up a bunch of MQ's since they'll match the super dvc's I can get here.
