...as in: " dont we care that our creative tool of choice is made in japan?"
if that is the question then-
no.. i dont. japan makes most of the worlds leading electronics. I care more about the fact that my cereal has BHT in the packaging... i respect japan and its people and am affectionate towards its culture.. just ask anyone thats been to my place... its uh.. very cultured.
if thats not the quetion then i have to ditto on the :
what in the world are you talking about ???

And the root of my creativity is controlled by Jim...
My creativity is controlled by nagging self doubt. I did date a Japanese girl for a while in college, and I must say she had a positive effect on my creativity while we were going together.

Now that I think about it, NOBODY talks about how their diet is controlled by farmers.[/quote]
The Chileans have a stranglehold on my winter grape consumption, but what can I do? I don't even want to know where three quarters of the world's bauxite is mined.
I admit to being a huge fan of wierd Japanese game shows, you know where couples wearing velcro jump suits have to leap across a small body of water and land on a bullseye dart board. That's cool.
I still do not understand the original question. ???
Are you pointing out the Japanese create most electronics? if so, they are not controlling it. They dominate it by being the best. Consumers control it by purchasing items they like. No product in the world can be forced on the consumer - We like, we buy lots, more get made and better. We don't want, we don't buy, product goes away.
yeah, cba.... 'splain yourself. I have a feeling what you meant and what you said are two different things. Because the "root" of our creativity is something within each of us. The technology behind the tool we choose to express that may come from elsewhere. But if this particular tool was not around, our creativity would simply manifest in some other way. We would have no choice in that, some of us. It is like breathing.
i mean if they didn't put the 24p in... or sell the SDX 900 for 10 bucks... or only sell the best in tokyo so only tokyoians can make the best pictures and sounds... so yeah they control it.. u still have ur creativity, but it's up to them if u have the 24p, sdx, or not, and up to them how u use ur creativity to their design. well if u don't think u're being controlled then u should be a happy luaghing man.. hehe :
Sort of... BUT, if one offers 24p, they soon will follow or not sell.
The DVX is the perfect example. For awhile Panasonic got all the 24p biz in the price range because it was the only one. If the others don't follow, they won't sell.
Were it not the Japanese, someone else would make those things (according to the theory that when the time is ripe, an invention is going to happen some place - sometimes several places at the same time).
Boy, this thread is on the verge of turning political. Were it not the Americans.......
When confused I like to quote our greatest modern philosopher, ...Ralph from The Simpsons. When Ralph's mind is baffled by the world around him, he simply states, "My cats breath smells like catfood."
I couldn't agree more, Ralph. ....I couldn't agree more.
