Jagged Export to Prod. Monitor

I have an NTSC Prod. Monitor I want to export my FCP playback to while I edit. It will also be used for CC. I have the S-Video from the back of the Prod. Monitor hooked up to an older DV cam and the DV cam to the computer with FW400.

When I choose all that it needed the display shows up on the Prod. Monitor just fine, but it looks AWFUL. Its jagged, and when playing back the timeline in FCP only the audio is heard and the frame started on stays there until the playback is stopped. Only then is the video updated and again frozen (right where playback was haulted).

This happened to anyone? Do I need a different camera? What do I need to get my signal from that computer to that monitor...WITHOUT spending tons of money on a deck or a Matrox or what have you.

Also I am using HD project files most of the time...

First - VIEW - External video set to ALL?

Second... can you see the video on the camera?

HD to SD? Could be an issue.
