i have a question about the small threaded adapters like the jag35 and twoneil.

these are both threaded at 43mm and my camera accepts 62mm.

would i be able to simply use a step up ring to use the adapter on my camera?
 
No, you can't do that. The much smaller condenser lens and achromat will cause vignetting. You need something like the gt35pro Elite or Elite-X
 
the gt35pro is really quiet. For anything substantial, you should have a shotgun or boom pole anyway, but I did not detect any noise (audio-wise) with my HVX200 onboard mics.
