saw the top secret trailer before Transformers last night. Just posting it up to see discussions going. looks seriously well done.

I didn't want to post it here, but there is a decent pirated copy on youtube- but I dont recommend it because the sound was awesome in the theatre alongside the shaky blair witch video look. The youtube video makes it look bad.

I saw this at the Transformers screening. I actually thought it was the beginning of Transformers but instead it was a trailer for some no name movie. looks cool though.

well the article even says the plot is kept secret and there are a lot of theories going around, all of the ones printed could be false...

This was a freaking awesome trailer. I think this proves that J.J. is the new Spielberg. He's coming up with the stuff that nobody's ever seen before. He's got all the original ideas. Just the idea (and I know it's been dealt with in commercials before) of mixing hand-held video camera footage with big effects. But to base a movie on that idea, Spielberg would never think of that cause he didn't grow up in that era.

I don't know what I think about a fire-breathing monster taking over New York, but this movie just looks cool as hell.

Original ideas? Looks like Lost with a bunch of college kids and without an island to me. Maybe I'm too cynical, but I'm going to need more than that teaser to get interested in the film.

Since New York city is the exact opposite of a lost island, I don't know how it compares to Lost at all. But I'm going to need more as well. I'm not the biggest "monster" movie guy (King Kong and Godzilla were both terrible - with Godzilla edging out the ape if only because it didn't waste as much of my time) so if this is that, without a twist, I could just as quickly turn on the film.

I compare it to Lost beacause you've got an ensemble cast and they're facing some unknown threat that so far has only been identified by a loud sound. Sounds like the first season of Lost to me. :)

So I was thinking about this trailer some more and decided to check out the IMDB page for the project. Apparently there are a couple of ARG-like websites based around this project and one of them makes a reference to Cthulhu. Could it be a Cthulhu mythos film? That would be way cool and would pique my interest.

The sound in the early part of the trailer definitely sounds like the monster from Lost.

There is an interesting theory on the web thats says this could be linked to Lost. The date Lost returns to tv would be around 1-18-08

How could it be Cthulhu if it's coming from beneath land? The explosion hints at it coming from ground...

Although the Statue of Liberty head seems to say from water.

maybe its the story of what the smoke monster from lost did before going to the island, and how it got there!!!

(if it is, i will kill jj abrams)

not an "original" idea, i mean it's blair witch with a tremendous budget but it looks like the execution is top notch
