I've had it ! (Firestore spanned P2 files issue)

Can someone please tell me what do you do when POS FCP will not digest firestore spanned p2 files ?

I've tried everything, one is 9 mins and the other 14 mins long timelapse footage. I've done this before with TL footage and had no problem, but sometimes it just is a pain to get it to load.


If I scratched the p2 file method and when straight to QT files, would I lose any quality ?

I"m not sure the answer to your specific issue - but I do know that there is no difference in quality between the P2 and QT files created by the firestore.

Are there any differences that I should know about ? Say you can't use a certain option in the settings when in QT mode or you can't shoot native, etc..

I use Quicktime on my FS 100 with great delight, P2 only on the P2 cards. No difference whatsoever just a different workflow...There is a hitch with the HVX with 720p/25PN where you have to choose QT PN in the FS 100 and set the HVX to 25p for FW output. I use the 25PN mode most of the time...no problems so far and the quality is excellent!
