ive been trying to become a filmmaker

It's actually a fallacy that you need a beard in order to be a filmmaker. All you need is a massive ego and a knack for talking smack about everyone you meet three minutes after you meet them. You'll fit right in in Hollywood.

Be sure to get that sweater though

So ill get an angora sweater and start pumpimg up my ego. I'll work on my hating skills and I should make it.
Thank guys!

Don't forget the beret. Nothing says brooding filmmaker like a french beret. With a beard and a beret you get extra points.

The right GF can make filmmaking much easier.

When I'm working on a Film it's a special time where the clock turns back to 1955 and I'm brought hot meals and don't have to help with the laundry or general chores. All that I must do in return is express my infinite grattitude, make sure she knows she's appreciated, speak in to her in a squeaky voice that sounds like a 5 year old with a speech impedement, and tickle her.

the great filmmakers, unlike most of hollywood, often have commited life long love affairs with a significant other (hitchcock, Coppella, Speilberg ... etc) though the cynic in me imagines they indulge inthe occasional on set perc...

So I would weigh the seriousness of your relationship, and the quality of the relationship against losing your beard as "a good woman" should probably be added to the list along with beard and baseball cap, etc.

Let's see of the ten req.s in limehouse's post I meet 5:
  1. I've got the hat,
  2. I've got the beard (was goatee but with no Job after Katrina and no friends back in town yet I'm going for the ZZtop/Dungeon Prisoner/Castaway Beard)
  3. I've got a stupid name -- but it's not my last name, does that count? JACK DANIEL Stanley
  4. I have a megaphone (don't ask)
  5. I'll get one of those chairs for my next shoot.

hmmm...5 out of 10 ... I guess that makes me a half-ass director

Well then you're "IN" jp, no wonder you're the directing mod.
:)

I don't know if i'd put the whole package together though....
Hat, smoking, beard.... that's fine. Put the chair into the mix and now you're just showboating.

You could easily make it six by adding "A quirk." Maybe just start to studder or randomly yell on sets and during any press stuff.
