It's official...I'm an idiot (HELP!!!)

Just got my DVX-100A, and shot a couple of minutes for test purposes. I attached a 4-pin to 6-pin 1394 cable and hooked it up to my iMac. Nothing! What am I doing wrong. How do you view/digitize from the camera to the computer hard drive? I also have Avid Express DV and nothing there either! As you can see, I am VERY new to all this and feel like a fool. Please help!
 
My friend had the same problem w/ a GL1 and his Mac. Sorry but I don't remember the solution, but you might wanna try asking this in the Avid or Final Cut section.
 
Have you checked all your FCP capture settings? For example, is it set to FW Basic? Have you installed the latest update for FCP? Are you running Panther? Have you repaired permissions? (Yes is best answer to all of these.)
