I don't know much, but I do know this....Holographic projection is gonna be the next best thing. Watch the movie from within the movie. Nevermind staring at a 2d CRT or LCD projection, You'll have a whole room devoted to experiencing the film, like the hollo deck. Computer controlled sensory simulation (hot, cold, smells, wind, motion as in earthquakes etc) This is where I see the whole thing going. The future is gonna make how we view TV / Computer images now, look sick. Editing in this environment is going to be a hoot.

How is the IMAGE able to FLOAT? Anyone are to dumb it down for me?
Regarding the FUTURE and TECH
I think one day, VIDEO GAMES will be as real looking as a film. You will be playing a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER for example and it will be as real as if it was shot on film. Explosions, the enemy, everything.
I didn't quite understand what they were talking about but I know it sounds intresting. I wouldn't be suprised when you hear about a computer the size of a wedding ring. Cawayzee!!

Oh yee of little faith....I ordered mine last night and had it fed exed. It just arived and it works like a charm. In the kit you get a mag light, 35mm slide (demo, you can use your own) and a pack of smokes. The instructions are easy to understand. Go into a small room, chain smoke for 10 minutes, hold up the slide then shine the mag light through it....Brilliant....When smoke clears, repeat process!

lol.
I have no doubt about the reality of such a product. We're at the edge of some really amazing stuff. Nanotech for instance as was posted earlier. The military will be equiping marines with suits that incorporate synthetic muscle (run faster, jump higher etc, etc) as well as built in armor based on nanotech. The armor is soft and pliable normally but when hit by a high velocity object becomes rigid and harder than steel. Absolutely amazing stuff. This is projected for around 2020 (along with a bunch of other cool stuff). There have even bee tests with suits that incorporate cameras that image on every side of a soldier and then adapt the suit to mimick whatever is on the opposite side. A relatively effective "invisibility."

Ok, so the device is doing something to air and using that as a display surface. One or more lasers must 'paint' an air screen much like lasers with rotating mirrors can paint an image on a wall.
Ionization? Some other process? The technology page says the device is 15% louder than a PC. Not louder than mine! But that might put it in the range of 65db - 80db, getting loud.
Brilliant concept, even though not true holography.
