Issues with my newly purchased Sound Devices Mix Pre3?

Just bought a MixPre3 and used it on a typical project and I'm getting all sorts of weird little audio anomalies. Little pops, cracks, noise ramping up and ending in a pop, etc. I'm using an Oktava MK-012-01 boomed out of frame above into the MixPre3 via XLR.

Here's a few examples of the issues:

Any idea what could be causing this or could it be any number of things?

Try the obvious first; change cables, change mics. Do you have a different recorder to try with your cable and mic setup? Is this being heard while recording or on your edit station? Try different headphones, those cables can go bad also. Not saying it isn't a flawed recorder, but you need to eliminate all other issues first.

Definitely no such issues with mine.

I agree with Grant in terms of troubleshooting process. Just go through every combination until the culprit is cornered.

Also check and clean the connector from the mic head to the main body as I understand these have interchangeable capsules.

Power is passed through it but the screw thread and the pin can become corroded or loose.

I believe the 012 may need the full 48 volts of Phantom Power, so check to be sure it's not set to less (12 or 24v).

Wow, thanks for all the ideas, guys! I'll look into it and report back.

EDIT: It was the XLR cable. Put a new one in and it works great. Thanks all.
