Issues with Matching Back To Bin

Hello all,

Wondering if anyone runs into this issue while editing. Often when I try to match back to my bin to find my clip, using the SHIFT+F command, some clips work and others do not. I can't seem to find any logic to the problem. Sometimes the clips that don't want to match back match back fine, and sometimes they don't. All the clips have been loaded in the same res using the same settings. All the clips were brought in at the same time into the same project.

Does anyone out there have a clue or run into the same issue before? If so, do ya solve it?

I'm not at FCP right now, but first, you shouldn't have to hit Shift-F -- just F. Now -- it defaults to the video on track v1, so if you are looking for something on higher tracks you're going to have to do some targeting.

There's a little button thingie in the patch bay area that looks like a rectangle with two lines around it... (again, I'm trying to remember). That's the autoselectorthingie. Try turning it on and off and others off and on until YOU figure it out... I've never been able to.

Indeed pressing "F" while my clip is highlited on the timeline, will match frame to the clip and open it in the VIEWER, but i need to match back to the bin that the clip resides in. This is an extremely important feature which is a necessity when hunting for footage you know is around the clip you're trying to locate in the bin.

Ah yes, this is the "reveal master clip" function.

You did say all the clips and bins are in the same project, so that isn't the issue... (RMC doesn't work across projects like simply Match Clip does...)

I'd still mess with the track selecter button thingie.

Well the odd thing that happens is that I'll match back to the bin on the same video layer, no problem. Then a few clips down the line, same video track (V1), I attempt to match back to the bin and NOTHING. It's the strangest thing.

Any thoughts?
