isolating a single channel of audio

I know I can do this, but can't find it.

I recorded some footage with a wireless lavalier hooked into channel one, and another into channel two on my HVX.

What I want to do, is get rid of one channel and leave the other. I've got some christmas footage of folks opening presents. My mom forgot she had her mic on and went to the bathroom, and I had the lovely audio of her peeing coming in over my nephew opening presents. I actually want to keep the peeing audio, or bump it up higher. :)

Thanks,
Jason

Right-click on the audio track, select Properties, click the Audio tab, and select Monaural Channel 1 or Monaural Channel 2.

I tried that, it didn't seem to work. I'll try again when I have the chance. But, from my memory, when I did that, I was still getting both channels of audio.

Thanks,
Jason

Ramjet, if your mother finds out what you're up to, she'll pick up your Acer 9805 and break it over your head.

What THoff said works to alter what's on the track. However, I think what you want is the track targeting.

Click the little A drop-down in the Audio track and choose which channel you want to land on that track.

Then when you drop clips into the timeline, the selected channels will land in the corresponding tracks.

To return things to the way they usually work and be able to drop clips wherever you want, click the A drop-down again and choose "Clear all tracks" to clear the targeting/magneting/landing/whatever-you-want-to-call-it.
