Is Veydra still in business

Their site seems barely functional, and I've heard very little from/about them since the theft of most of their inventory. Are they still a viable business?

So that's the official word. Not sure what it means going forward. Hoping for the best; their lenses are nice!

Thanks Jim!

Have the original 5-lens set, & recently been thinking about filling it out with the 19mm, 85mm, & some additional lens mounts, which are all in short supply. If they recover would love to see a 135mm, & more.

Yeah email/website should be easy to sort out, but potentially with the other major blows they've had then even having time/money/energy to sort out the simply stuff might be in short supply

Or maybe there were some personnel or partnership issues. Like, whoever controlled the internet stuff is no longer around to allow access. I'm not trying to cast aspersions, but it could be there's some understandable (though totally frustrating for them and us) explanation.

I do hope the company gets everything back together. They're doing such cool stuff.

That sounds like code for "real bad stuff going on behind the scenes." I too hope they can get sorted out, seems like a nice product, but going dark is never a good strategy for any company no matter the challenges.

Shame. They are great lenses. I own two that I use on e-mount and they are every bit as sharp and beautiful as my zeiss glass.

Makes me think the theft was an inside job and the thief was maybe their web person.

I'd probably tear the site down and build a rather quick and dirty site built on something like Joomla just to get current info up until they can get a new web person installed.

Im definitely thinking something shady is going on. To me instances like this appear to be underlying insurance fraud. Steal your own lenses. Go in hide and seek mode and sell them off on the black market to Chinese / NJ / NY black market retailers. I see so many new ones for sale on Ebay and wonder how is this possible if they cannot be found in normal markets.

This post reeks of slander.

Unless you have proof.

I should probably mention in the case that someone from Veydra reads this, I'm a hack with Joomla and would definitely work for trade of lenses if they wanted to do this. Just thought I'd throw that out there in case they want to change a few things right now (or RFN). Could be set up so that they can easily create updates to let everyone know what's going on. And once they get down the road a bit, they can have a real web developer make a new site and flip the switch to make the good site go live. Would be fairly easy to set it up this way.

Slander.... Sounds like freedom of speech to me (which is very lost in this country now of days).

Not to mention my language specifically said "instances like these appear" and in no way shape or form did I say this is a "fact".

Furthermore In reading my prior post I thoroughly state that "I support Veydra, have purchased their lenses, and specifically state that is it a shame that this happened to this company as their glass is top notch".

I just have seen this before with companies especially new startups that disappear off the map to reinvent themselves somehow and remove financial obligations to their debtors.

And if you guys really look into the police report and underlying news that is out there about the loss it talks about someone "leaving their shop door unlocked and they came in the next day and everything was gone". I even saw pictures of how all the lenses were sitting on shelves in a little poorly secured environment literally right next to the main door. It just sounds shady is all I am saying especially for a company to protect its entire value this way.

But it should be known for the record of this post that I loved the company and loved their glass and would buy future items from them in the future.

I can respect the libel comment from the perspective of how I would feel if I was Veydra and there were many people out there coming up with these crazy ideas and generating rumors. I however do not respect Veydra disappearing on its existing customer base and the many customers that want to purchase their products or have orders in. If you don't want rumors clarity and openness is the answer. I also build websites on the side and know that I could easily build a word-press template styled site in a few hours that includes an e-store, product navigation / informative, and customer contact forms so the dropping the website is no excuse in my opinion which is why it originally appears shady to me. Lesson learned though as I do agree it is best not to speak on the behalf of others and if to do over out of respect for the company I should have held my tongue to eliminate the possibility of spreading rumors as that can easily happen in today with social media. So point taken!

Yup, that was my point too. Most people could walk through a CMS getting started tutorial and produce something that could be updated at whim with a new blog post, and do it in a few hours. No need for ecommerce since it seems they have nothing to sell directly right now anyway. But contact form and email account for responding is absolutely critical, along with updates on what's happening.

I never had need for this quality of lenses, but if I did have that need, I would have bought a set. Almost bought a set of used lenses but hard to justify for my uses (GAS only pushes me so far).
