Is Vegas supported on a MAC

As long as you have an Intel-based Mac, you can use Apple's "bootcamp" utility to setup a new partition to install Windows XP/Vista. When you do that, you can then install Vegas on this Windows partition on your Mac.

You can't use Vegas as a native Mac OS X application, if that's what you are asking. Also, I do not recommend you run Vegas through a virtualizer like Parallels or VMWare, as Vegas requires as much resources as it can get to run correctly.

Vegas runs as good or better on my MacPro than any other PC I've ever built. Using Bootcamp there's no difference between Windows OS on either platform.

I second the "don't use an emulator / virtualizer" comment as well. I found Vegas to be rather snappy under VMWare Fusion but the lack of proper internal / external drive support, firewire and dual monitor support just renders it unsuitable for most video editing work. I do know a few who are doing it and okay with it but it's not recommended at this point.

Thanks guys!

Cheno: Interesting, what's your Mac configuration and OS. I"m very interested in building one dedicated for editing in Vegas.

Thanks in advance.

2.6 Dual Core / 4 Gigs RAM

You can get a much zippier 8 core for the price I paid a year ago.

Running XP

There is a great article on the Creative Cow website from Tim Wilson about a program called nLite that will install Windows but slim it down to only the necessary operating components (something I'd really like to look into as I hate all the built in junk)

I'd suggest MacDrive for accessing the mac side drives from XP and aside from that, I LOVE having both OS's on the machine. FCP is great for when I'm working with boutiques but if I have my druthers, I'd rather cut in Vegas which is really the only reason I'm running Windoze anything on that partition.

Vegas 7 runs better on my Macbook 13" than my PC, using boot camp.

2.4ghz dual core
2gb Ram

Even though the graphics are integrated, I just use the Macbook on a external monitor.
....I think it's time for a PC upgrade.
