is this... THE GUERILLA 35?

it's not availabla yet, just so you know

Angrius has been posting over at the HVX forum for a while now. I'm sure he's well aware of it. But hey thanks for pointing that out to the rest of us.

But you're right that "shown with DVX and Nikon" statement shouldn't be there.

And its not a "new panasonic" the name is HVX-200. Just because it's still about three-four weeks from release does not impact it's status as cutting edge.

It doesn't make the DVX obsolete because certain people will not be able to afford an HVX or may not want to upgrade right now, nevertheless it is a major improvement over an already excellent camera.

"But you're right that "shown with DVX and Nikon" statement shouldn't be there."

Ummm guys... i think you should be reading it as shown with DVX mount and Nikon mount.....no DVX camera is seen coz it is showing the G35 with DVX mount.

Maybe the G35 is that big that you can't even see the DVX in the background... :)

Anyway after reading their forum for far too long now it's seems that they had to put something up to keep their customers happy. after all, those who want the G35 have been waiting for god knows how many months and I guess they could be waiting for while.. I think it's going to take more than front picture to keep me and others interested, So jonathan, what about your release for wednesday? is it going to happen or are we on for another dispointment?

Hey everyone!

Regarding the statement below the photo (shown with DVX-100 and Nikon-F mounts)

The G35 has attachable camera mounts as well as lens mounts. That means if you have 3 different cameras - you can buy a camera mount for each one instead of buying an entire new G35. The photo on the main page is shown with a DVX series rear camera mount and a Nikon-F series lens mount. I suppose to clarify it should say "Shown with Panasonic DVX series rear camera mount and Nikon-F series lens mount". So no - the G35 is not so large that it's hiding the DVX. haha..The entire adapter is just about 5 inches long. We'll fix up that miscommunication under the photo over the next day or so.

and as far as a price - the same estimated price remains. The G35 with one camera mount and one lens mount the price will be around $1,300 (give or take about $50) depending on what mounts you choose. When Cinemek starts to take preorders there will be a $500 deposit. Cinemek plans on starting to take preorders through the site in mid december. Shipping date is currently not official. Stay updated through the stie and the mailing list.

I hope that clarifies everything! If there are any more questions, give us a post on the forum. www.Cinemek.com/forum or sign up for the G35 mailing list - www.cinemek.com/?mailing_list

Talk to you guys later!

If we sent you a $500 deposit, is there a chance you wouldn't send them out until months later?

Slimothy,
Absolutely not. The reason we are holding off on pre orders is because we are waiting for commitments from our manufacturers. We will not take money until we know when we can get you your product.

I want to follow up on Jeff’s comments above. I apologize if the mount statement was a bit confusing. We are still tweaking the site so your comments are welcome. We will update it for the sake of clarity.

It was not our intention to push our manufacturing out to this late in the year. Modifications and tweaks such as user back focus adjustments and low light performance as well as HD compatibility have delayed our initial release. Regardless of weather we are ready to roll on production, our machine shops have their own timelines. That being said we just cannot comment on when we will be shipping. We plan to start taking pre orders in a few weeks, which will be a sign of how soon we will be shipping.

Dremmwel,
Please forgive me but I'm not quite sure of what release date you are speaking? If you are talking about the G35 shipping, you are more than likely in for a disappointment. I apologize for that.

We are a small company that has to roll with the punches. As a result we are, to an extent at the mercy of our manufacturers. We appreciate your patience and are just as excited to get these products to you as you are to get them. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions in regards to what I have mentioned in this post. Jon@cinemek.com

Cheers

bravo!
I've been following the development of the G35 for half a year now.
After seeing the images produced, and the way these guys run their company...
I can't wait to get my hands on one of these!
guys, this thing is revolutionary!
a very affordable 35mm static adapter for mini dv.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I feel priveleged to, at the very least, be present and active during this period in cinema history. who knows? maybe our grandkids will read books about the G35 in their studies of cinema.

Yea you guys at g35 cinemek, take your freaking time, take as long as you need to make sure that this product is worth it and worthy of a solid investment. I respect that you are not pushing your product out quickly just to make a return and to stifle competition. You are doing it the right way by producing a product that is overboard. You guys are going to be so damn rich after this is all done with -

patience is a virtue.

patience is a virtue.

Anytime JHouser! People have no patience. It's a virture. All I know is that your website hasn't dicked anybody around with information and everything is covered. Just curious..are you throwing in a free Apple Shuffle with every purchase? Just kidding. I dig your website. GOOD WORK! I hope you prosper greatly from your hard work...give'er!

HA! That's funny. Yea, I was pissed when apple launched their "new look" 4 years ago. They totally stole my idea. Then they started using Myriad? copycats.....

Hey Jonathan, this might be obvious, but why do you guys call your rig a "finder"?

Shawn,
You are the first person to comment on that. The reason is because it's a directors finder. Patented that way at least. A directors finder that you can also attach to a camera to record your "findings". ;)

that's exactly what I was wondering if you guys were implying...

hmm, I've never actually used one before, how will using the G35 as a finder differ from the commercial ones? I imagine that depending on the lens you have on the end determines the range... I guess you could fit the end with an eye cup too.

Jonathan:

The new site looks great. I've been wondering . . . you claim light loss of 1 stop or less. What is the TOTAL light loss including the lens you put on the adapter for say, a Nikkor 50mm f/1.4?

We need to do some more testing to verify before we make a public statement on that. But theoretically if the adapter loss was half a stop just add that to your taking lens aperture. This obviously would be added to your camera's aperture when zoomed in F2.0 and that is the total stop loss including camera lens.

If this adapter has only a "half stop" of light loss, then this would be one of the most transmissive focus screen that I have heard used for this type of application. The compromise seems to be a trade off between resolution, light loss and edge fall off. I don't know how one can optimize for all the above simultaneously, as the properties have divergent requirements.

I would be very interested to learn the results of your testing and it would be very helpful for you to include your conditions and methodology used to obtain the measurement.
