Just wondering...my cousin has some HD footage he wants to give me to edit..and i told him id do it for him.

now my question is...is this ''plugin'' needed to edit HD and export HD?

I havent captured to the computer yet..i just have the DVCam Master Tape sitting my drawer...is there a special way i should capture with this program? or just use Vegas 6? I'm very new to HD editing and stuff like that...can someone help me out?

thanks

Assuming this footage is HDV, you'll need two things: an HDV-capable editing program, and an HDV camera (or deck) to use to capture the footage.

Vegas 6 includes Connect HD, IINM. Also, I believe you can download a 30-day trial of ConnectHD, which should be enough to get you through this current project, and works with Vegas 5. But you'll still need an HDV camera to digitize the footage from.

Well if I had the camera to capture to the computer..would i be good then?

What's the main purpose of Connect HD? the version you can buy i mean....

Vegas 5 doesn't have any provision for capturing HDV footage. That functionality was added in Vegas 6. So if you have Vegas 5, you need Connect HD in order to be able to capture the footage. ConnectHD also includes an intermediate codec, where it will transcode the native HDV footage to the CineForm codec. The Cineform codec gives you faster, more-responsive editing. It's not necessary that you transcode, it's an option that CineForm gives you.

Ohhhh now i get it...thanks Barry

I use Vegas 6.0...so ill have no probs then capturing when it asks which way i want to capture.

thanks
