Is This Necessary???

Dear Forum Members,
When choosing Sequence and Capture Settings in FCP5 for 24pa/squeeze, what should the settings be under Capture Preset Editor and/or Sequence Preset Editor > QuickTime Video Settings (Advanced) > Compression > Scan Mode and (below it) Aspect Ratio?
Thanks.

I so don't have enough caffeine in me yet to really decode all of that, so I'll just recommend this:

In this forum, look at the top of the list, there is a sticky dedicated to 24pA

cheers.

At this time, I've been told to use "Progressive" for Scan Mode and "16:9" for Aspect Ratio.
Any disagreement?

Aspect Ratio: Anamorphic / 16:9 is just a flag. The footage is still shot to a 4:3 censor (and squeezed). So if you turn this on, it will simply turn the flag on, on ingest. But you can just as easily highlight all the clips and turn it on after the fact too. Won't make a huge difference really.

As for the Scan Mode, I'm not sure it will impact things for you. I know I saw this discussed a while back, but as I don't use the DVX at all I didn't read the post in to much detail. Its the Advanced Pulldown checkbox I believe that is your bigger concern for ingesting the footage. Hopefully someone else can chime in on this one.

Oh and not sure if you've had the debate or not already, but incase you haven't, might want to give this old post a read:
