Is this just the practical?

Hi guys,

In the video below (just the first shot), is the practical the only light building the silhouette and lighting the background or maybe it's being helped by a backlight pointed at the actor? It seems that way, especially because of the exposure on the lamp, but I was curious and wanted to get your opinion. Thanks!

There is no backlight on the actor--he's in complete silhouette. If there was any other light source in that room than the practical, it would have been quite low level; perhaps another practical providing a little return on the chairs, or just the effect of white walls.

Charles, in order to keep the actor in complete silhouette and the backgroud so well lit, how powerful would you say that practical is? It looks to me he's shooting at something like f4 or f5.6...

Thanks

Really hard to tell the focal length on that shot, there are so few clues (the foreground room being completely dark). Put a gun to my head, I'd say a 50 or 65 at a T4 on 5218 stock (500), with two 100W bulbs in the practical.
