is this jib any good?

I think I used that one or one just like it. Those types of jibs work fine with lightweight cameras. Any kind of wind will make your life a little more complicated though. You'll also need a portable monitor or any kind of monitor.

well i rent a portajib for the paying gigs but i want a cheapie to keep. i thought about cabra crane but the pullies make me nervous....

has anyone used the camcrane?

i rented the CamCrane 200, along with the Vista Head for a video shoot. The kit came with manfrotto tripod. Overall, we were very pleased with the 200. Easy to set up, easy to use.

It can be set up for 4' or 8' length (i think). Operation was a two person thing - the vista head was an excellent addition and helped us get some great shots.

The only issue we had was on a close up shot starting at the feet and slowly traveling up the body. We had a tough time keeping the framing straight on this - either some tork inherent in setups like this. OR, we weren't completely level on the feet of the tripod. Even if you level the bowl, there can still be some rolling if the legs aren't level with each other.

other than that, it allowed us to really get some good shots and up the prod value of the shoot.

it's also a nice, easy workout for the arms and shoulders!
