Is this 'interlaced' effect normal in Premiere?

Hi,

I've just discovered some strange behaviour with Premiere Pro since updating the raylight plug in. (which may or may not be related)

All the fast motion effects (in a PAL SD project) appear with "double vision" ie. it seems like both upper and lower fields appear simultaneously...also show ugly horizontal lines etc.

Is this normal? Have I just never noticed this before?

Am I just seeing this more because of my new Dell 24" screen?

Is there some way to switch off the effect? Thanks for any clarification.

Example here:

Yes. I don't know if there is a way to change the interlacing options while you're working in Premiere, but when you export your movie, you can change the Video settings under "Keyframe and Rendering". Just tick "Deinterlace Video Footage".

I'm not sure if that's a good thing to do though, I haven't really gotten into the video interlacing stuff.

The project settings are:

DV PAL (720x576) Pixel Aspect ratio 1.067
Fields: Lower Fields First
25 fps timecode.

Relatime Playback settings DV 25i (720x576)

24p Conversion method interlaced frace 2:3:3:2

Does anything look out of place here?

I'm fairly sure I've never seen this level of horizontal banding before...I'm not sure if it is somehow related to the Raylight update I did.

Any clues?

Deinterlacing throws away half your rez.
