Is this any good? I need something cheap

1. There are audio stickies, they are threads that are so good they get permanently "stickied" to the top of the forum so everyone can easily read them. You should.

2. If you can't bear to read them, do a search for "ATR55", this question has been asked repeatedly.

3. To shortcut you there, you get what you pay for in audio. The ATR 55 is a total POS.
 
Well... it is a mic, and you wouldn't be spending a lot.

I doubt you'd be getting much for your money, though. A mic that terminates in a 1/8" unballanced mini-plug has not been designed for professional use. Without any further investigation, you already know that this mic will be prone to whines and hums, on account of the unballanced line.

B&H Photo has a number of user reviews for the mic, none of which are particularly positive.
