Is this a problem?

I finally got my project on DVD and it played well on two different dvd players at my house.

Now I want to enter it into festivals, but the requirements for the festival ask for region 0 or 1 dvds. Does this apply to my ntsc PP made dvd, or are a whole new set of problems in front of me?

Region 1 DVD's are for USA and Canada, region 0 is all regions, and that's most likely what you have burned. If you didn't change this setting, I think the default would be 0. Shouldn't be a problem entering it into a festival. But you can double check by starting another burn and seeing what setting you used.

Glad to see you finally got it working.

thank you for the response. what settings should i be looking at? From other posts I have read, there isnt a setting on PP that allows you to edit the regions. Am I wrong?

Unless you set a region coding then your DVD is region 0 (meaning no coding and readible by ALL regions because there is no coding)

Otherwise region 1 is for North American standard.

Either way you should be safe. A problem would only arise if you specifically went in and selected a specific region coding in your DVD authoring program. Many lower end programs don't even offer the option to do regional coding.

In any case you might verify it with a tool like DVDINFOPro ( www.dvdinfopro.com ). There's a free download version that has a little bit of advertising and expires in a couple of weeks. Registration is only $20. I use it a lot for doing an error scan of burned DVDs before I send 'em out. It will give you a lot of useful info about your burner and the media you're using.
