Is this a good tripod

I believe I've played with that one at Best Buy. I think you'll find it unusable, unfortunately. The head sticks like you wouldn't believe.

if you need a fluid head, you can try manforto 500 series
if you have a bugdet ..try the 700 series

Lol. You just get right to the point. I figured it wasnt really too good because its only $80 but I am very broke and need to get some lighting and sound stuff too. I was just hoping it was decent enough to get by with. Thanks for the input.

It's just not a good tripod. Cheap, yes - good, no.
I don't like that design in a tripod. You'd be better off with a design like this:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...444&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation
Because you can easily level that unit without having to re-position the legs.
The link above is NOT a good tripod either, by the way. It MIGHT be A LOT better than the Sunpak though, at least from what I can tell.
You have a $3000 - it will need more than a $80 investment in a tripod.

"but I am very broke"
Even MORE the reason NOT to waste $80 that you are going to regret. Check the MARKETPLACE here on this site for occasional deals, or like webdog wrote; eBay can be a good place also.

Yeah I knew it wasnt great but I thought maybee I could temporarily get away with using something like this but like you said I have a $3000 camera I should hold it up with something a little better. I would just wind up buying a better one eventually anyway. Thanks im gonna lookout on here and ebay and hopefully get a good deal.

And webdog, thats a nice deal on the 501. On ebay right now just the head is going for more than that.
