Is this a good kit???

Did you get the smaller case cheezweezl? And if so, do you actually manage to stuff everything back in? :P

the guy at evs actually talked me into the soft case. i have an old anvil flight case that will hold the entire kit plus a little more if i ever need to fly or ship it. the soft case is great. it's partitions are velcro and moveable but it comes all setup with pockets for each of the small lights, one for the rifa, one for the stands, and left over space for cables, gels, etc.

$1208.00 at b&h with the soft case.

one gripe. why did they put a switch on the pro light? why not just switch in the cable like every other light. seems like with time and enough heat, that cheesy switch will kick it plus i burned my fingers already on the damn thing. you can still use a switched cable on it but the kit came with a plain cable for that light. it is a handy light though.

And I think that switch is the reason you can't face them down... it starts to cook the wires up there that are running to that switch. But yeah, a handle little light except for that one terribly stupid point.

And the rifalight is hard to beat. Quite the practical little softbox.

I think I'm going to pick up snoots for the pro & omni lights. These aren't the fanciest lights out there, and they can be pretty unwieldy. So hopefully the snoots will help me in in my quest for more meticulously sculpted lighting set-ups. I'll let you know how it goes.

I am considering the Lowel 55, its probably the only thing I can easily transport around Tokyo unless I want to drive two hours to get 20kms.
