Is this a good deal?

Someone has offered me FCS2, Academic version, for $450.
Does this sound like a good deal?
He says he's already registered it, so it can't be registered elsewhere...I though it could be unregistered and then registered on another computer.
Any advice would be great. Thanks,
Andrew

if it's legit he should be able to do a transfer of ownership thru apple. if not, you may as well be downloading it from somewhere....

you can buy the academic version new for $699 so $450 used sounds like a good deal if and ONLY if you can register....

Craigslist...I might just go buy the full version directly from Apple. It's more expensive, i know, but it's fully legit.

One more thing you need to take in consideration is that you do not qualify for a upgrade down the road.

My understanding is that they do not qualify for upgrades. I think that would really come back and nip me in the butt if I bought the academic version.

Yes it is a good deal. But does'nt sound like a legit one. I see these on craigslist all the time. And most of them just download the programs from a Torrent site throw them on disk and sell them to you. You will be real lucky if you get more than a 30 day trial.

For the deal to be legit even for a purchased and registered copy, the seller would need to transfer ownership to you through Apple. It would not be good situation for you if he kept a copy of FCS2, either on his computer or by copying the install disks, and remained the registered owner. You would then essentially be using pirated software, even if he gave you the original install disks.

I would just avoid the mess by insisting that you will buy from him only if he transfers ownership through Apple. If he won't do so, either he has a pirated copy or he intends to keep using the programs after he sells them to you, and in either event, you would be better off going elsewhere to buy your copy.
